LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada)

Regina Open Door Society LINC program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The program provides quality, settlement-based English language training to adult refugees and immigrants to help them adapt to life in Regina and use English in their everyday activities.

To be eligible for the LINC program at the Regina Open Door Society clients must:

  • be a permanent resident or Convention Refugee;
  • be eighteen (18) years or older;
  • be assessed at levels Literacy to CLB 4 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Placement Test  

RODS LINC program offers full-time day, part-time morning, afternoon and late afternoon classes Monday to Friday as well as evening classes that are held Monday through Thursday.

Clients participating in day-time LINC classes have access to RODS Child Care and transportation services based on need.

Stage 1 & 2 English Program

RODS Stage 1 & 2 English program is a provincially-funded language training program with the goal to assist newcomers who cannot access federally-funded language classes.

To be eligible for the Stage 1 & 2 English Program clients must:

  • be temporary residents or the spouse or dependant(s) of temporary residents;
  • be permanent residents or Canadian citizens who are not eligible for or cannot access federally-funded classes;
  • be eighteen (18) years or older;
  • be in Canada for no longer than eight (8) years;
  • be assessed at levels 1-6 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Placement Test;

RODS Stage 1 & 2 English classes run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Language Assessments

Please note that prior to registering for RODS language programs all newcomers need to undergo an assessment to determine their language level.
