DESCRIPTION:Demand for health-care workers is high, and that includes demand for personal care workers who take care of residents in health care facilities or private homes. If you enjoy caring for others and want to get into the workforce quickly, Personal Care Worker Certificate might be what you are looking for. This workshop prepares clients for the Personal Care Worker Certification exam by presenting relevant knowledge and practical skills. Clients who complete the workshop will be eligible for the exam. \nWho is the workshop for?  \n\nNewcomer to Canada within the last 5 years.\n16 years of age or older.\nEnglish proficiency of CLB 5+.\n\nPlease note: Space in this workshop is limited. \nWhat will you learn? \n\nKnowledge about the aging process, illness and injury prevention, nutrition, recreational activities, common conditions of the elderly and medication. \nPractical skills to use body mechanics, observe residents, take care of residents’ personal needs such as bathing, dressing, serving food, etc and maintaining care plans. \n\nAfter completing the workshop, participants will be able to:  \n\nMeet residents’ personal and recreational needs.\nTake care of residents in a safe, supportive and cooperative manner.\nFeel confident in writing the Personal Care Worker Certification exam. \n\nHow can you apply? \nIf you are interested in taking this workshop, please contact your employment counsellor or complete the intake form at Employment Services « Regina Open Door Society (RODS) \n
