DESCRIPTION:In the event of an emergency, will you know what to do? First Aid & CPR training can help give you the skills and confidence to respond quickly in an emergency situation, providing effective and timely care that can even save a life! Furthermore, this training is recognized by employers across a variety of industries and fields, increasing your employability and helping create a safer work environment for everyone. \nWHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR? \nThis workshop is for all newcomers who experience cultural and/or language/literacy barriers to employment. You need to be over 16 years old and demonstrate CLB 5+ in English proficiency. You also need to register with us for workshop enrolment. If you are not registered, please call (306) 352-3521. \nWHAT WILL YOU LEARN? \nIn this workshop, participants learn to prevent, recognize, and care for a wide variety of injuries and illnesses, including: \n\n\nChoking \n\n\n\n\nCirculation emergencies  \n\n\n\n\nWounds \n\n\n\n\nHead, neck, and spinal injuries \n\n\n\n\nEnvironmental illnesses and many more… \n\n\nWHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT? \nParticipants will attend online classes where they will prepare for a one-day, in-person certification session delivered by our training partner. The workshop provides a safe environment where every participant can learn, practice, and feel comfortable asking questions as they work towards their First Aid & CPR certification.  \nWhen you finish this workshop, you will: \n\n\nBe able to identify strategies for preventing injuries and illnesses \n\n\n\n\nBe able to recognize the signs and symptoms of a variety of injuries and illnesses \n\n\n\n\nBe able to describe and perform the care first aiders provide in emergency situations \n\n\n  \nHow can you apply? \nIf you are interested in taking this workshop, please contact your employment counsellor or complete the intake form at Employment Services « Regina Open Door Society (RODS) \n
