Indigenous Leadership camp for newcomer youth
Overview:
Join us for a transformative three-day workshop – the RODS – ICARE: Youth Initiative, presented by the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan’s Intercultural Connections and Anti-Racist Engagement (ICARE) program. Facilitators, artists, and storytellers from the Indigenous community will lead this immersive experience, fostering dialogue and understanding among newcomer youth (ages 13-24).
Meet Our Facilitators:
Kelsey Aitcheson (she/they): An urban member of Standing Buffalo Dakota First Nation, Kelsey advocates for equality and is a facilitator for the ICARE program. With a background in Psychology and Indigenous Studies, Kelsey shares her Two-Eyed Seeing perspective rooted in education, experience, and emotion.
Risa Naytowhow: A Nehiyiwak Iskewak from Sturgeon Lake, Saskatchewan, Risa taught for three years at her beloved community, Piapot. Currently pursuing a master’s with a focus on anti-racist education, Risa is thrilled to be the coordinator for the new ICARE program.

- Mirror/Mold/Marionette theater technique

- Large group Discussion – Why do I care?
- Small group action planning
- Group presentations with feedback
- Closing Circle
Each class is designed to be engaging, interactive, and informative, building on the previous day’s learnings. Let’s embark on this journey together!
Note: A meal break is included during lunch or supper hours, with food, beverages, and supplies provided by ICARE.
