Lunch and Learn: Indigenous Cuisine and Cooking Workshop

Are you interested in Indigenous Cuisine?

Do you want to learn about local berries and baking?

RODS-WCN-Youth Program is pleased to release November and December Youth Indigenous Educational sessions:  Lunch & Learn: In-Person Cooking Workshops.

We are pleased to have Chef Jenni Lessard, who is a member of the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan and is the interim Executive Director of the Indigenous Culinary of Associated Nations. She is going to facilitate two in-person cooking sessions – Lunch & Learn to newcomer youth and their family members on Nov. 19th and Dec. 3rd at Food Bank Training Kitchen!

 

This program is open for PR youth aged 13 – 24 and their family membersPlease refer to the attached poster for more information.

  • Date: Nov. 19th & Dec. 3rd  (Saturdays)
  • Time: 11am – 1 pm
  • Location: Food Bank training kitchen (ED BLOOS COMMUNITY CENTER)
  • Transportation: We will provide bus passes if you need (Please let us know)

 

Class Description: Nov 19 Berries and Bannock 

In this class, you will learn how to make a traditional quick bread called bannock, topped with rose hip butter, and served with Saskatoon berries and wild mint. After we cook, we’ll enjoy our bannock together with a cup of hot Labrador tea and talk about the history and foods of the Métis people, who are descendants of European fur traders and First Nations women.

December 3: Indigenous Cuisine & Cooking Skills
