Working in the Banking Sector (requirements)

To work in the banking sector in Canada there are certain certifications that are required for most jobs.

Client advisor (teller) #

You do not require any special training or classes, banks train employees entirely in-house. However, you should have a background (either education or work experience) in finance to apply for a teller position.

Banking Advisor (lending roles) #

You are required to have the Investment Funds in Canada course in order to sell mutual funds. This is an online course. This is the only formal training course required, any further education is usually paid for by the bank for roles that the bank is supporting the employee into.
