To prepare newcomer youth and young adults for upcoming job fair and future employment.

Students who attend Summer Job Fair preparation workshop will be able to:

  • Identify the target jobs using a skills inventory/assessment
  • Research companies of interest and related positions
  • Identify strengths related to job interests
  • Define marketability
  • Introduce themselves using an elevator pitch
  • Have a better understanding Canadian Workplace Culture
  • Recognize the soft skills that are required to succeed in the Canadian Workplace;
  • Identify common interview questions and discuss strategies for responding to them
  • Understand “Guide to Applications and Interviews” from SK Human Rights Commission and importance of closed vs open questions
  • Summarize key experience, accomplishments, abilities, and transferrable skills
  • Create, edit, or revise resumes as needed
  • Write STAR story
  • Participate in a mini-mock interview based on common interview questions
