Each year we look for judges and mentors to participate in our event. As a mentor you will be an assistant to one of our teams. If needed, they can reach out to you for support or to troubleshoot a problem. Mentors will need to be on call and are not required to participate for the entirety of the day (8:00-4:30 PM). To learn more, or to speak to one of our team members, send us your inquiry to techskills@rods.sk.ca with the subject Mentor.
Each year we look for judges and mentors to participate in our event. As a judge, you will be evaluating the solutions each team comes up with, providing feedback and picking a winner. To learn more, or to speak to one of our team members, send us your inquiry to techskills@rods.sk.ca with the subject Judge.
Every year, we strive to diversify our challenge pool and offer more opportunities for our teams to really show what they can do. With the help of community and employer partners, we can offer challenges that reflect the current and emerging needs in our local tech sector. Our partners also volunteer their time to join us as mentors, judges, and guest speakers who can directly connect with our participants to give them expert advice and feedback. We recruit candidates with backgrounds in software development, graphic design, analytics, networking and more. Think you have what it takes and want to showcase your skills? Apply online to be considered now!
Last year our Tech Skills Showcase went online with the theme of Solving Local Problems through Global Connection. As our communities adapt even more in 2022, we plan on kicking off our next TSS as a virtual 3-day event that focuses on Adaptability and Accessible Technology. Join us as we highlight the skills and abilities of internationally-trained professionals as well as newcomers to the field – be it new to the country or also new to the tech sector itself. We find that our newcomer clients come with ‘Adaptability’ as a built-in skill thanks to their life experience. Join us on Slack to see how they come up with solutions that help make technology more ‘Accessible’ for all of us! Participants will form teams, work together as a team remotely, network with mentors, and present their solutions online for our judges.
The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina.
